52 Years pleasant Gentleman was referred by a Dentist from Hyderabad.
Mr. Shaukat presented with an ulcerative large lesion involving
left mandibular (Lower Jaw) germs, bone and bucial mucosa (skin
of cheek). Clinical examination and investigation including biopsy
confirmed the lesion as well differentiated sqnamous Cell Carcinoma
(Cancer).
On the request of the kind Administrator of
Saifee Hospital Dr. Navid Rashid Qureshi oral (Maxillo
facial surgeon) and Dr. Aleem Kadar (E.N.T)
operated on 29th August 2001 in Saifee Hospital North Nazimabad
Karachi.
OPERATION:- It was a four hour surgical procedure
in which primary excision of the diseases and Suprahyiod neck
dissection was carried out. As the lower Jaw was involved, superior
part of left side of the jaw was also removed along with the
teeth. The surgery was made possible by splitting his lower
lip in two and flap in the neck. The excised area in the mouth
was repaired by transferring a finger like skin flap from the
face to the inside of the cheek. As part of left side of the
mouth was also removed, it was repaired by a piece of skin taken
from underneath the tongue.
